I am 56, saved over 35 years, have High Functioning Autism which disposes me to hypersensitivity to pride in others, and have been in many kinds of churches (untraditional and more traditional) – and I have only been in one other church with a pastor whose humility I perceived to be deeper than the humility I perceive in the CLC pastors I know best.

No one is happy about this. If I didn’t tell you about it, you wouldn’t know it happened.

Could we please drop it? One guy screwed up. Everyone has kissed and made up. The actions of everyone involved had nothing to do with the blog.

Let’s ask a SGM question about it – Is it biblical?

A) would an administrator send any legally binding document such as a non-disclosure agreement without pastoral approval?
B) why would the administrator even have such a document if it were not part of the SOP for departing pastors?

I found out the rest of the story today, and have deleted my original comment, along with the comments that responded to what I wrote.

I received a call from a SGM pastor today, who told me that an administrator had sent the document in error, and without pastoral input. As soon as the pastors involved found out about the document, they told the pastor who had received it to “tear it up-you don’t have to sign anything.”

I called the pastor who had received the document, and he confirmed the account. I am told by leaders in SGM who I believe that no one has ever been asked to sign a non disclosure.

I deeply regret that I said anything about this, as I did not have the whole story. An administrator screwed up. This is not how SGM does things. End of story.

I would ask all involved parties, along with the readers here to please forgive me. I am so very sorry.

I’m not saying that it’s wrong to try and clarify something,  but often times people will avoid the damge their actions have done by claiming nothing but the best of intentions… 

That statement rang many bells with me; “Sent by Danny to clarify … what their intentions were“.

Since SGM realised how angry I was post-disfellowshipping I had emails telling me; “I had misunderstood their intentions”.  Furthermore my parents frequently would tell me that what they did was okay “because they had good intentions”.   Good intentions = make it right??

John-thank you. I wish I had the time to give this blog the attention it deserves, but I don’t.

Yeah, that comment made me want to go flip some tables.

This “blame the accuser/protect the accused” statement says it all:

“Is it possible that the person in your example really was arrogant, rebellious, and prideful in a way that required immediate attention? Maybe the pastor responded the way God intended him to respond.”
