Well……..Emerson was down at the Chesapeake church last Sunday.  He had the perfect opportunity to make things right ………..wonder if he did?

Ultimately succession and inclusion in the leadership coterie is always based a subjective assessment of one’s  loyalty to the founder cult and ability to propogate its goals.  Any leader is expendible and can be purged at any time when he is deemed disloyal, ineffective or simply bad for the cult’s image.  Sound familiar?

I doubt that Emerson, himself, could stand up under this type of scrutiny and vetting.  His past blunders and abuses are well known.  The Chesapeake fiasco is only one example – there are others.

For those just joining the discussion, you may want to read the earlier comments on this thread for details of this now-infamous “kangaroo court” presided over by Emerson and the Chesapeake pastors.

In hindsight, it appears that this event was to eventually bring about a massive liberation of sheep from the Chesapeake church and the “redirection” of the careers of several of the Chesapeake pastors, including Eric H, who had been exiled to the PC only months before.

I’m no quizzler, but I wonder…

Since it’s become clear that the three couples were right about KB, has Gene publicly apologized for assassinating their character? Privately?

Is Gene actively pursuing the trail of carnage his personal ministry has produced?

It is D – all of the above but there is one option left out. “His sin” represented by the lack of grace!

Sounds to me like its “B” and he is being prepared to be let go.

Listen to Greg.  Call Child Protective Services.  My daughter is studying Criminal Investigation, and had to take a Juvenile Law class.  She says there are newer laws today that will protect your sister.  CPS will investigate.  They know what to look for, things that us civilians wouldn’t see.  It is a hard call to make, but let love be your guide!  Praying today for you…

You probably have noticed, but secrecy in the family is a big part of the problem.  I grew up in an abusive home, and I can say that if we had know that we could talk to someone that would protect us, the abuse probably would have stopped.  Realize that your parents might shun or threaten you for breaking the silence, but that is exactly what you need to do.  You’ll have to decide in advance that you won’t be intimidated by their response.  No matter what they say or do, it will pass.

I am so glad that you are showing love and courage in speaking up for your sister.   Taking your sister out of school and locking her in her room is abusive.  The fact that your sister is cutting herself really concerns me. It’s ok to ask for outside help. You can reach out to anyone you know in a position of trust -  a teacher, her school counselor, the family doctor, and of course Child Protective Services.  A lawyer is only going to look at things from a legal/business perspective and probably would not represent her until local government gets involved.

Finally, it took me a long time to realize that I was not a “bad kid” and that what happened was not my fault.  My parents often thought they were doing the right thing, but they lacked parenting skills and had their own problems to deal with.  It’s a difficult balancing act to have compassion and forgiveness toward your parents while realizing that what they did was wrong.

If you feel that your sister is in danger from either your parents or from hurting herself, you should probably call your local Child Protective Services.  I don’t know where you live, so I can’t tell you the exact name or phone number.   Situations like this can improve if the state requires the family to go through counselling.  I would normally recommend talking to a pastor first, but in SGM that can either make things better or worse depending on the pastor.  I’m praying for you and your family!
