I want to stand up and applaud. I want to shout, “YES!!!”. I was preached religion, accepted religion into my heart, lived it and, in 1995,was set free from it. The beautiful, wonderful, loving voice of Jesus broke through. He showed me Himself. True joy came.
Religion does not bring joy. It brings chains. I will be having my two teens watch this video next week in school. Thank you Lord, and Mark Driscoll, for preaching the truth! And thank you, Jim, for putting this video on. It has entirely lifted my soul to heaven!
I loved this video and say AMEN as well..I shared it with many people who are unbelievers and are hindered in their seeking the ways of the Lord all because of RELIGION. I hate religion too. And once you can identify the Spirit of religion, it’s easy to call out, and must be called out. And that spirit is exactly what we are dealing with in SGM.
So we must keep that in mind when we deal with drive-by bloggers spewing religious venom (just like the Pharisees did) - we must remember to respond as Jesus did to their attacks. Attack the system of religion, everything they hold dear and idolize. Nevermind their defensiveness - it is expected because we are attacking their very security and their soul’s sense of purpose.
The saying: if you throw a rock into a pack of dogs, the one that is hit yelps - so true. When we being speaking the truth about religion, idolatry, spiritual abuse, etc on this blog, the ones that yelp are the ones who were “hit” spiritually. There will be no repentance without the truth being spoken. God’s kindess will lead them…and we simply cannot understand God’s kindness in the context of religion, because if we are in religion, we have fallen from grace.
The logic being offered up here is that because there are other churches with really, really bad things happening in them, SGM is better than that by comparison. — John Immel

The message of the sufficiency of Christ just never gets old. Thank you, Christ, for using M.D. to remind me of the true joy of my salvation… YOU.
